Kleinfelder Retains Renowned Expert for National Surface Water Resources Program

Danny McCook, P.E., joins Kleinfelder as an Associate Consultant for the National Surface Water Resources Program.  McCook has more than 40 years experience with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), an agency of the U. S. Department of Agriculture, which works in partnership with the American people to conserve and sustain natural resources.  McCook worked in the National Design, Construction and Soil Mechanics Center for the nine years prior to his retirement. He managed the soils laboratory in Fort Worth for 15 years. He has authored reports on over 500 earth dams, presented or published 27 technical papers and developed over 30 technical training modules.  McCook has become a national expert on design and forensic engineering for water impoundment structures with special interests in compaction control, filter design, critical evaluation of laboratory data, evaluating models for seepage analysis, slope stability and consolidation, dispersive clays, uplift computations for levees and dams, SITES modeling and training.

McCook is a Professional Engineer in the state of Texas and is a contributing member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO), and United States Society of Dams. McCook will be working out of Kleinfelder’s Fort Worth office and is available for consultation and peer review of engineering documents, lab data, failure analysis and much more.

McCook will be presenting a webinar in conjunction with the ASDSO on November 20, 2008, on “The 80/20 Principle – How to put it to use in design and review of embankment projects.”
